How do you seek out comfort?
How do you seek out comfort? Luxurious pampering, simple and familiar delights? High or low end? I wonder about the terms we use for experiences that bring us joy and relief. Maybe the right terms can’t be shortened to a simple word or two. If you’re here reading this I’m guessing it’s because you want to share a great experience with someone. Just like a tailored suit would be unwearable if it wasn’t meant for you, the most comfortable and exciting date is one that fits your personality. Dinner at a chic restaurant, classic cocktails and a movie might be a go-to for many people but maybe you want more of a thrill or a hiccup in routines. There’s no need to box yourself in when you’re trying to have a good time! Show me your favorite diner or best place to play pinball. I can show you just how bad I am at bowling and karaoke, and how much I love it anyway.
Right now in NYC the little holiday villages have popped up around Colombus Circle, Union Square and Bryant Park. Sipping hot cider or hot chocolate while walking around can be a fun icebreaker in itself. While I don’t have many travel plans for winter (yet!) I’m always curious to see what the seasonal activities are in different cities. Interesting suggestions are always welcome. Many places I think of fondly were introduced to me by someone eager to share their love of it: the small movie theater that used to be a dentist office, the tiniest secret bar above a regular restaurant. These places become special not just from their uniqueness, but because of the thrill each time you get to share it with someone.
As some lovers might already know I am great at compiling little lists of restaurants, small art galleries, used bookstores, cocktail bars, arcades, jazz clubs…you name it. But I think wherever we spend time together is made special by our desires and excitement.
Reach out for endless possibilities.
